Absalon secures
valuable points

28 mars 2015

Rémy Absalon ended the first round of the Enduro World Series in Rotorua - New Zealand - taking a 30th place with an injured wrist.
This Saturday, when the sun rises, if you had a look between the steam clouds of the Te Puia’s world-famous Pohutu Geyser, you could find hundreds of enduro riders ready to start the first round of the 2015 Enduro World Series.

From there, they headed out to the Whakarewarewa Forest, where they faced a long 7 hours day in the saddle as they tackled some of the area’s most iconic and difficult trails.

The one day race took in seven stages over nearly 60km and feature over 1700m of climbing and 1800m of technical descents. As this round be part of the famous Crankwork festival, the last stage of the day dropped into the Skyline Rotorua Mountain Bike Gravity Park, where a packed crowd was waiting to welcome home some of the biggest names in the sport.

Crashes
As many other riders, Rémy Absalon crashed in the first stage when he caught up the competitor just in front of him. The guy empeded him to pass and pulled him in his fall.
This first stage was a good illustration of this long day. It began by a very physical part followed by a technical zone qualified as the most difficult of the race with slippery roots, narrow track and bad light.
As a result of this, he hurt his wrist and broke his saddle.

Show must go on
No mechanics assistance was allowed before transition between stage 6 and 7. Rémy kept his motivation and tried to stretch his limits to the end of the race in these conditions. He just fixed his sadde with cable tie. Thanks to his mental force he did it.

He finishes 30th and stays in the game for the next round.
It is time now to treat his wrist to be back as soon as possible on his Genius LT.
